Lori’s Faves: Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year

Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year is Marsala (PANTONE 18-1438), a rich, earthy tone that adds a lush elegance to the room. From Pantone: “The impactful, full-bodied qualities of Marsala make for an elegant, grounded statement color when used on its own or as a strong accent to many other colors. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. Add elegance to any room by incorporating this rich and welcoming hue in accent pieces, accessories and paint. Marsala’s plush characteristics are enhanced when the color is applied to textured surfaces, making it an ideal choice for rugs and upholstered living room furniture.”

ARTS Awards 2015

The ARTS Awards is a peer nominated awards program for anyone in the home accents industry, and the event is held every year in Dallas, TX. Homemakers was nominated for the Midwest/Southwest division this year, one of four stores nominated in our region and one of nine nominated overall.

Our Accessory buyer, Lori, represented Homemakers at this year’s event, which happened to be emceed by part of the inspiration for our Winter Marketplace, Donny Osmond! While Homemakers didn’t win our category, it was quite an honor to be one of only four stores nominated from our region. The nomination speaks to the talents of Lori, who continually chooses pieces that are on trend (and on budget!).
