The color experts at Pantone have announced the color of the year for 2016. Or, should we say, the colors of the year?
For the first time since it began forecasting the top tone for the coming year in 2000, Pantone has chosen two colors to share the crown for 2016: Rose Quartz, a graceful, light pink hue, and Serenity, an airy, rich blue.
Expect Rose Quartz and Serenity to take center stage in 2016, from the clothing and furniture industries to home décor, graphic design and even product packaging.
While both colors have their own singular appeal, it is the combination of hues that presents a soothing, harmonious balance in any setting.
“Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warm, embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace,” said Pantone Color Institute Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman.
Past Pantone picks have included Marsala (2015), Radiant Orchid (2014), Emerald (2013) and Tangerine Tango (2012).
