Elsa, Iron Man and Minions, oh my!
We were charmed, spooked and impressed by over 1,000 children who walked our Homemakers showroom to collect Halloween treats. We loved seeing all your unique costumes! Some of our favorites were:
• Voting ballots
• Three-tiered cake
• Mater tow truck
• Katy Perry shark
• Slice of pizza
• Old lady
• Starbucks barista
• Captain Wolverine (Wolverine costume, Captain America mask and cape with Bugs Bunny on it)
A few costumed kids even showed up with top-notch jokes, like, “What do you call a cow with no legs?”
Speaking of Halloween humor, did you know that telling jokes on beggar’s night is unique to the Des Moines area? That’s right. Other cities don’t require a punny quip for sugary handouts. Our Des Moines locale is the only place (that we know of) where both candy-receivers and givers enjoy a little Halloween treat.
And there were plenty of treats to go around during last week’s trick or treat action. Each character received giveaways from 19 different stations, including goodies from Jay’s CD & Hobby, Blank Park Zoo, The Science Center of Iowa and Wendy’s.
If you were at Homemakers for our trick or treat event, share your pictures with us on Instagram or Facebook! And make sure to mark your calendar for free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus next weekend!
