Coastal Casual Style

No matter the time of year, this design is just begging you to curl up on the sofa with a warm drink and good book. That’s because stylish comfort is key in the coastal casual style circle! The soft upholstery, rich wood tones and neutral accents create a room that everyone will love. So whether you are napping, streaming Netflix or browsing the Internet, you can kick your feet up in this space for ultimate relaxation!
When putting this room design together, our visual designer, Brandon, was inspired by the sofa. “It was something I could see myself in with sweatpants and a coffee reading a book,” he says. “When I look at this, I just feel very comfortable. I just want to come in and lay down.”
Brandon used the accent chair for color inspiration, focusing on cream, khaki and steel gray hues. He explains, “I walked through the store to see what could pull out those colors. The coffee and two end tables were actually in another design, but when I put them in this group, I fell in love with it. These items really pull everything together as a beautiful set.”
Brandon wanted to mix and match decor and accessories while also looking for items that had colors in common. He says, “I’m looking for something that looks like it belongs, that flows with the color tones. You can mix and match your accessories, you just want it to make sense in the space.”
The most important step when designing your own living room? “Pick something you enjoy and have fun. Make your home your own, something that you want to come home to. And if you need help finding something, our design team is always happy to help.”

Brandon’s Design Advice: Mix it up! He says, “It will shock you what a couple of pillows and a throw blanket can do. For my accent pillows at home, I switch the pillows out seasonally. It’s a super easy switch that changes the whole look!”

Casual Sophistication

Casual or formal? Vintage or coastal? We’re going with all of the above! This eclectic mix takes transitional style to a new level, bringing a range of unique pieces together and making them click in a simply irresistible design. The buttery leather, warm yellow and brown hues and bold décor tie this room design together, creating a chic look that is perfect for any home!
Our visual designer, Craig, created this design using upscale furniture, fun accents and unique décor to add visual interest. He also chose to reuse select elements from a previous room design, including the bold spotlight lamps and vintage coffee and end tables, showing how versatile furniture can be when creating a transitional room.
Craig’s biggest inspiration in this design was the rug. He enjoyed how the yellow hue contrasted with the leather furniture and created a sophisticated yet warm and welcoming space.
“I wanted to give the whole area a little bit of cohesive flow,” he explains. “The colors just went well with the leather and they all just looked good together.”

Our visual designer, Craig, believes in a simple approach when creating room designs. Like this design, he prefers to go with the flow.
Craig focused on finding items that would add visual interest, such as the displays he placed on the coffee table. He also took into account the clean lines of the sectional and soft palette when making selections.
Craig’s Design Advice: Keep it simple! “For me, there is not a lot of process,” the designer says. “I just go with it. I see what I like [and its] trial and error.”
