  • 3 cups white chocolate covered pretzels

Fruit is a gentle and fresh alternative that offers a natural sweetness to your lineup (plus, it makes for the perfect palette cleanser so you can eat more sugary patriotic snacks later)! To create this star-spangled banner look, place a bowl of blueberries in the top left-hand corner of your tray followed by alternating lines of red fruit and white chocolate covered pretzels to distinguish the stripes. This recipe doesn’t require any cooking or refrigerating so once you’ve created your masterpiece it’s ready to be indulged!

2. Red, White, and Blue Cupcakes

Ingredients: (makes 30 cupcakes)

  • 2 ½ cups of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • Pinch of salt (½ a teaspoon)
  • 1 cup of softened unsalted butter
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract (depending on your desired level of sweetness)
  • Red gel food coloring
  • ½ cup of milk
  • 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup of canola or vegetable oil

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine eggs and sugar together in a bowl a beat until creamy, add your eggs and beat on a medium speed for 2 minutes. Then add vanilla extract, milk, oil, and food coloring to your mixture and beat for 4 more minutes. In a separate bowl, mix together your dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, and unsweetened cocoa powder. Sift your dry mixture to eliminate lumps and then gradually fold your dry ingredients into your mixture until it’s at a creamy consistency. Evenly scoop a spoonful of mixture into each cupcake liner making sure to stop when the liner is halfway full. Put your full cupcake tray into the oven to bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

After 15 minutes, poke a toothpick into one of your cupcakes and pull it out. If the toothpick comes out clean your cupcakes are done, if it comes out with uncooked cake mixture put it in for 3 more minutes- continue with this until your cupcakes are ready. Once your cupcakes are completely baked, set them aside for 30 minutes to an hour to cool.

The easiest way to make frosting is to simply buy it from the store! Plus, don’t forget about the sprinkles!!

3. Blueberry Star Pie

Ingredients:

  • Pie Filling
    • 5-6 cups of blueberries
    • 1 cup of sugar
    • ¼ cup of cornstarch
    • ½ teaspoon of allspice
    • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
    • ½ tablespoon of salt
    • One already made pie crust
    • One pie dough
    • 1 egg

Who doesn’t love pie? This blueberry pie is a delicious addition to any holiday and is the main event when it comes to easy July 4th desserts. Its burst of flavor is a combination of blueberry, sugar, and cinnamon that creates a thick, gooey center and distributes a bright blue hue to emphasize your patriotic theme. 4. Firework Fruit Skewers

Ingredients:

  • 1 watermelon
  • 6 apples
  • 3 cups of blueberries
  • 3 cups of strawberries

Here’s a quick and simple treat that look as good as it tastes. Plus, it’s great for the kids! Pick your choosing of fruit to create your firework and then use your star cutter to create stars shapes. Pierce them onto the skewer in a pattern of your own design to create your very own firework display. These patriotic snacks are healthy and fun all in one!

5. Rice Crispy Treats

Ingredients:

  • 6-7 cups rice krispies cereal
  • 1 package of marshmallow (10 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Water

Another easy July 4th dessert recipe for your holiday celebration are rice crispy treats! (this recipe makes around 12-15 rice crispy treats) First combine marshmallows and butter into a pot and place over your stove on medium-low heat. Once runny (and sticky) take mixture off heat and gradually add the rice crispy cereal to create your gooey dessert. When combined, place your mixture into a tin and leave it to set in your fridge for an hour or two. To create the colorful icing, combine your powdered sugar, food coloring, and water into a bowl to create a soft, runny icing mixture. Cut your set treats into bars, pierce them with a skewer, and dip them into your icing until they’re halfway covered. Add some sprinkles to complete the festive look! Put them into the fridge for about an hour to allow the icing to set and then enjoy your very own patriotic snack!
