The Iowa Caucus is the first major electoral event of the nominating process for presidential candidates. They begin to determine who has a real shot at a nomination and who, well…doesn’t. Presidential candidates converge on our beloved state, touring all the counties, holding town hall meetings in local restaurants, visiting state landmarks and colleges. Accompanying them (especially closer to caucus time) are celebrities, musicians, network anchors and the press.
This year, the attention has been doubled, as both the Democratic and Republican Party caucuses will be held on February 1.

The most colorful festival in town has arrived for any artsy soul seeking things to do in Des Moines. This weekend, the Des Moines Art Festival returns in whimsical, modern and abstract splendor.
